MORAVEC Blizzard Voices (2008, New York Premiere) and songs by COPLAND and IVES
The Oratorio Society presents an evening of joyful, poignant, and nostalgic American music, featuring the New York premier of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Paul Moravec’s The Blizzard Voices. Moravec’s oratorio, based on the poetry of Ted Kooser, tells the story of the Great Plains “Children’s Blizzard” of 1888, giving voice to the victims and witnesses of this tragedy. Songs by Copland and Ives round out the program.
